Questions and Answers for After Market Parts:
Question Does the installation of aftermarket parts or accessories automatically void my OEM warranty?
Answer No. Consumers in the United States have much better protection in this respect, because the Dealer will need to prove that the aftermarket part caused the failure. Unfortunately in Canada, this level of protection is not available and it really depends on the attitude of your dealer as to whether or not your warranty will be honoured. We sell many after market parts to OEM Dealers, but for others they are taboo.

Question Should I use only OEM parts?
Answer In today's world of outsourcing, there are very few parts that are still manufactured by OEMs themselves. If you source top quality aftermarket parts, you will quite likely be purchasing parts that come from the same factory as the OEM parts - at a much better price. In some cases, aftermarket companies have identified weaknesses in OEM parts and therefore you can actually purchase an aftermarket part of superior quality.

Questions and Answers for Diesel Motor Oil for Cold Weather:
Question What is the best motor oil to use in cold weather.
Answer Some calculations say that each cold start takes approximately 20,000 miles off the life of your diesel engine, so this is an area that you should pay a lot of attention to. Most people change to 5W or even 0W multigrades for extreme cold. There is a lot of debate over the use of synthetic oils - some people favouring them, and some people saying that they prefer to stay with mineral oils. There are great technical papers on these issues on the web sites of the major oil packagers such as Esso, Petrocan and Shell. The important thing to remember is that it is really the additive package in the oil that makes the big difference. The first thing is to make sure that you follow the engine manufacturer's instructions, relative to the grade of the oil required. In my personal Passat diesel, I don't pay much attention to the brand name, but more to the specifications. Here is the most important tip of all for cold weather operation. When you start a cold diesel, the hot gases that escape past the piston rings come into contact with the cold engine oil, forming sulphuric acids which can quickly damage engine bearings. The use of a good pan heater will eliminate this factor, and greatly increase the life of your engine. Use our product search on the home page to find a pan heater that is suitable for your engine.
