Fuel Solutions for Modern Diesel Engines

Modern diesel fuel systems are more advanced—and more vulnerable—than ever. From fuel contamination and injector deposits to cold weather gelling and poor fuel stability, even minor fuel issues can lead to costly downtime, lost power, and expensive repairs.

See how Team Fuel gets ahead with... 4+ Fuel Additives.

We deliver proven diesel fuel treatment solutions, fuel additives, and filtration strategies designed to protect your equipment and restore peak performance. Backed by over 40 years of real-world engine experience, our solutions target the root causes of internal diesel injector deposits (IDID), fuel degradation, and combustion inefficiency.

Whether you operate heavy equipment, farm machinery, transport trucks, or industrial power systems, we can help you:

Eliminate fuel-related failures

Improve fuel economy and combustion efficiency

Prevent injector fouling and system wear

Operate in extreme Canadian conditions

Clean, stable fuel isn’t optional—it’s the foundation of performance, reliability, and profitability.

If Your Equipment Feels Off… Fuel Is Often the Reason.

Modern diesel fuel is not what it used to be. Ultra-Low Sulphur Diesel (ULSD) and biodiesel blends introduce new challenges that many operators don’t see until performance drops. You may be experiencing:

Hard Starting (Especially in Cold Weather)

This could be as simple as ensuring that a cold start device such as an oil pan heater is used. It could also relate to frozen fuel. Check for fuel flow at the fuel filter outlet. If it is low or there is no flow at all you may need an additive to liquidize the fuel. Buy Diesel Melt Now or Find a 4+ Dealer.

Loss of Power (Under Load)

This may be an indicator of fuel filter plugging. Remove the fuel filter and check for discoloration (turning grey or black). This may be an indication of Internal Diesel Injector Deposits (IDID) which occurs during the combustion process involving high pressure, heat, and Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel. Bio diesel blending can contribute to this issue. Read more about IDID or Clean up your system with 4+Super Clean now.

Plugged Filters (Over and over again)

This may be an indicator of fuel filter plugging. Remove the fuel filter and check for discoloration (turning grey or black). This may be an indication of Internal Diesel Injector Deposits (IDID) which occurs during the combustion process involving high pressure, heat, and Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel. Bio diesel blending can contribute to this issue. Read more about IDID or Clean up your system with 4+Super Clean now.

Rough Running or Surging Engines

This may be an indication of sticking injectors or unstable fuel pressure. Conduct a fuel system flush with 4+ Super Clean. See how PACCAR reccomends this type of maintenance on thier service bulletin

Unexplained Increase in Fuel Consumption

You may be experiencing a loss of power that is causing more downshifts and more throttle use. Call our service department (800-667-6879) to book a diagnostic appointment.

Injection System Failures

These are not random problems. In most cases, they trace back to fuel quality and contamination inside your system. Visit our knowledge bank to learn more.

The fuel you have delivered is normally good and clean: It’s normally what happens later that causes problems. Ultra-low Sulphur Diesel (ULSD) Attracts Moisture

Biodiesel Blends attract more water than ULSD. Water Settles in Tanks and Equipment Over Time, causing sludge and fuel degradation. Inside your engine, Internal Diesel Injector Deposits (IDID) develop. To learn more about IDID watch this video.

These are not random problems. In most cases, they trace back to fuel quality and contamination inside your system.

Whats Actually Happening?

Here Is the Situation Inside Your Fuel System...

Ultra-low Sulphur Diesel (ULSD) Attracts Moisture

The process and chemistry when refining ULSD fuel attracts moisture (hygroscopic).

Biodiesel Blends Introduce Instability

In cold climates, diesel fuel can:

  • solidify
  • lose filterability
  • restrict flow

This leads to:

  • plugged filters
  • no-start conditions
  • downtime at the worst possible time
Water Settles in Tanks and Equipment Over Time

Water enters fuel tanks through condensation, poor storage, or supply chain contamination.

Once inside, it settles at the bottom and creates:

  • corrosion
  • microbial growth
  • filter plugging
  • injector damage
Internal Diesel Injector Deposits (IDID)

Modern high-pressure fuel systems are extremely sensitive.

Heat and fuel instability create deposits inside injectors that lead to:

  • poor atomization
  • power loss
  • rough running
  • increased fuel burn

What Others Have to Say

“I’m an owner/operator of a 2017 Kenworth W900B with a PACCAR X13 Engine...I have started using 4+ Premium and have been able to reduce my fuel consumption by over 100L per week. I have gone from consuming 1,565 L per week to only 1,430 L per week... Dollars and cents matter and the numbers speak for itself.”
